The inspiration for this piece comes from a Louis Armstrong song of the same name, which is appropriate for this piece since there was a lot of improvisation, pattern, order and dischord, layers of various "instruments" (paint, paper, drawings) all woven together to create the finished product.

"Love Note to Thelonius" is an ode to jazz pioneer and pianist, Thelonius Monk. The piece features improvisation, pattern and dischord, and a roughness that comes through in his music. Though the piece feels primal and raw, there is a delicate balance and an order about it as well.
