Memory plays heavily into this piece. Layered with deeply embedded bits of ephemera, this painting has its own developed memory and history. Memory and history play into our perceptions, motivations, and decisions. The elements that have made it are paritally revealed through scraping and sanding. In a similar way, events that have shaped us are also paritally revealed and sometimes hidden.

"Love Note to Thelonius" is an ode to jazz pioneer and pianist, Thelonius Monk. The piece features improvisation, pattern and dischord, and a roughness that comes through in his music. Though the piece feels primal and raw, there is a delicate balance and an order about it as well.
